- Diploma in sports and biology (1st state examination, Sek I and II) in Cologne (1980-1988).
- Doctorate in 1992 at the German Sport University in Cologne in the subject of training and movement theory.
- Habilitation 1997 at the German Sport University Cologne. Venia legendi: "Sports science with special reference to training theory". Habilitation thesis: "Energy metabolism in tennis: a training science analysis with practical recommendations for competitive and amateur sport".
- University lecturer (C 2) and scientific assistant (C 1) under Prof. Dr. Karl Weber at the Institute for Sports Games at the German Sport University Cologne (1992-2002)
- Acquisition of the Trainer A Licence of the German Tennis Federation (1993)

- Training forms in high performance badminton: systematic analysis of load and stress under variation of load normatives (BISp project with the German Badminton Association, DBV)
- Optical pulse measurement using Polar OH1 or Verity Sense (BISp service project with the German Swimming Association)
