- Additional studies in prevention and rehabilitation through sports at the Ruhr-University Bochum, training as a sports therapist (1999 - 2000)
- Part-time employment in teaching at the St. Jacobus Realschule Breckerfeld (2001 - 2009)
- Freelance work as lecturer for physiotherapy at the official training center for medicine and therapy in Recklinghausen (2000 - 2012)
- Doctorate with the topic: Training control of the recreational runner with special consideration of the heart rate (2011)
- Research assistant at the Chair of Exercise Science at the Ruhr-University Bochum, Head of ZeDI (Center for Diagnostics and Intervention in Sports) (since 2009)
