Teaching in Human Movement Science

Movement science has many facets. In teaching, the basics are taught and it is explained how motor learning functions and movement is controlled. Students need this knowledge for biomechanical measurements and their own research projects.

Bachelor's degree: a good foundation

As part of the bachelor's degree program, students learn the various aspects of exercise science:

  • physical and biomechanical fundamentals
  • muscle and neurophysiology
  • motor learning
  • movement control and regulation

In in-depth seminars, they learn biomechanical measurement methods for optimizing athletic movement. They can apply these in small student projects.

Master's degree: deepening knowledge

The Master's programme offers the opportunity to deepen knowledge and understand contexts in detail. One area deals with movement technique and coordination, optional is a seminar on motor learning and feedback procedures. Another component of applied movement science is biomechanical strength and performance diagnostics. With regard to the LFB's own research interests in movement science, in-depth content on muscle mechanics and neuromuscular functioning is also offered.

The following applies to all areas: Familiarisation with the respective research methods is integrated into the teaching so that students can carry out their own research work under guidance at the end of the degree programme.

Learning platform „Moodle“

Students of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum can find detailed information on the courses in movement science on the learning platform „Moodle“. Moodle
