Sports sociology

Sports sociology is an empirical science that uses the methods of empirical social research to investigate the interactions between sport and society as well as the function and action logistics inherent in the field of sport. Thus, it creates scientifically validated knowledge that can be relevant to the actions of those involved in sport.

Education

The field of sports sociology gives students an insight into a variety of interesting topics concerning the sociology of sports. The complexity of the scientific research process, which ends in a written thesis at the end of the studies, is developed step by step based on current topics.

The introductory lectures on sports history and sports sociology for the B.A. degree programmes, module 7, are usually scheduled during the winter semester.

  • Seminars for the B. A. degree programmes, module 7, are provided every semester. They are designed to expand the contents of the lectures, but can also be taken before or parallel to the lectures.
  • Seminars for the M. Ed. programme, module 2, are provided regularly.
  • The module for optional subjects "Sociological Topics in Sport" is provided when required.
